Individual Members

Our Society’s Membership

Here are the people considered the membership of the Society.

These are people over 18 who are familiar with the Objects (or charitable purposes) of the Society.
They became members by a favourable vote passed by the existing members. The society is looking for those who are following Christ and seeking to make a difference in the area of addiction. Members must have an interest in furthering the cause of KARN as a society in our region.  They must also attend, at least, the AGM.

Don Bookless

began a struggle with sexual addiction at age 7, drinking at 14, dabbled in psychedelics and pot at 21 — all destructive dead-ends engaged in ALONE. One year he dared to go "inpatient": at the Dream Center. There Don learned the opposite of addiction is NOT sobriety, but connection, and belonging to something bigger than himself. He is opening up to the wonder of recovery - TO LIFE.

Cassandra Dobson

has her master’s degree in Addiction Counseling. She works as a counselor at Drumheller Penitentiary. She is on our board of directors.

Michael Hancock

has a remarkable testimony of freedom from addiction and has given full support to the network in web development and getting the word out.

Sara Paterson

has her own story of hope and recovery and helped with Celebrate Recovery in Three Hills. Now she partners with Deb and Joe facilitating Freedom Session at Rehoboth.

Blair Stromstedt

has a degree in pastoral ministry. His testimony includes recovery from addiction to pornography. He now works at Prairie College. He has worked through Freedom Session with the hope of shepherding other young men through their addictions once completed.

Lillian Bookless

is the Board Secretary/Treasurer for KARN. She is a great support to the network and leads a group of women in search of pleasant boundaries for healthy and wise food consumption. The group meets on Zoom.

Richard Evans

has a story of hope and recovery of his own and is considering schooling in addiction counselling. He has found the Genesis Process to be an effective tool in his own life. He is co-director of Freedom Session at Mount Olive Church.

Lydia Nelson

is a layperson who has connected with those experiencing addiction through Celebrate Recovery, has training in Genesis Process and was a codirector of Freedom Session. Lydia has walked through the addiction of a spouse.

Martin Reedyk

is a medical doctor in Three Hills and also serves as a counselor to many. His experience has convinced him that addiction is a significant problem in our community that must be addressed through the church.

Van Williams

has spent many years coming alongside young adults struggling with various forms of addiction, but especially pornography. He has a personal sobriety story and trains men to foster a faithful heart in an adulterous generation.

Sylvia Davis

was a counselor in Three Hills for many years. She supports a Partners Support ministry for women whose partners are addicted to pornography.

John Hamm

is an elder in the church community. He has a vision to see a family and couples retreat and wellness ministry established in Kneehill.

Wayne Nelson

Has a passion for discipleship and how it matures us in all areas, including our recovery from addictions. He has connected with those experiencing addiction through through Celebrate Recovery, has training in Freedom Session, Genesis Process, was a Recovery Pastor, and has a personal sobriety story to tell.

Tim Schellenberg

Is a masters of counselling student. He has spent the last five years pastoring before moving to Three Hills to complete his practicum with KARN. He is a firm believer that the Christ-centered community should be a place people who are struggling with addiction should come for support.
